Toes in the Mud

I truly believe with the work that the AAZA and other groups are doing, zoos have come a very long way, and will continue to improve in the future. I used to not want to work in zoos because of these concerns which I have shared, but if zoos are continually funded and more work is done to shut down roadside ‘zoos’/ ‘safaris’ then we will be giving these animals proper care and respect. 

I learned a lot from zoos when I was a child, but I quickly learned the distinction of circus-esque ‘entertainment’ and the truly educational and magical experience a child can have at a well-run and respectable zoo. 

Fingers crossed for the future, I know I’ll keep working towards the end of pictures like this!
